Privacy Policy
What information THG handles, why we use it and how to contact us about your privacy rights.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Scope and who we are
This notice describes how The Hunting Grounds (THG) handles personal information when people use THG Platform, and the limited account identity checks in THG Content Studio. Some THG features involve additional event rules or third-party privacy notices.
The organisation or individual identified in the contact section is responsible for THG processing described here. TikTok and Google/YouTube are separate controllers for information they process within their own services.
Information we may handle
The categories depend on the services you choose to use. We do not require all of this information from every visitor.
- Account identity and profile information, including account identifiers, display names, linked Discord identifiers and optional connected-service identifiers.
- Competition information you submit or generate through teams, tournaments, challenges, ratings, applications and match results.
- Content and supporting evidence you supply, such as screenshots, media, captions and event-related material. Content Studio campaign drafts and original media are processed on the owner workstation.
- Technical and security information necessary for authentication, session cookies, language preferences, misuse prevention, troubleshooting and service logs.
- Where a payment-enabled service is used, transaction and subscription status from a payment provider, not full card details.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
We use information to provide requested account, team, tournament and community services, maintain records of competition activity, secure our systems, respond to enquiries and meet applicable obligations.
Depending on the processing, the legal basis may be performance of an agreement for requested services, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting THG, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required for an optional activity. Where legitimate interests apply, we balance them against the rights and freedoms of the people affected.
Google, YouTube and TikTok identity verification
THG Content Studio currently offers read-only account identity verification for YouTube and TikTok. The authorisation flow requests limited identity-related scopes, and Google or TikTok may process information under their own policies.
The current local companion uses authorisation tokens temporarily to check account identity; it does not permanently save those tokens or automatically publish social-media content. Verified identity details are associated with the current local Studio session. Stopping that session ends this temporary verification.
You can decline consent at the provider screen or revoke THG app access through the relevant Google or TikTok account settings. Future publishing integrations, if added, will require separate review and a notice update.
Sharing and international services
Information may be processed by relevant infrastructure, authentication, community, payment and hosting providers, including Discord, Google/YouTube, TikTok, and payment processors if you choose a paid feature. Event details and public competition results may be visible to the audiences indicated by the relevant feature.
Some providers operate internationally. Transfers outside the United Kingdom must be assessed and, where required, supported by an applicable adequacy arrangement or other appropriate safeguard. Contact THG for information about transfers relevant to your data.
Retention and security
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described, subject to applicable retention, dispute, accounting and legal requirements. For example, competition records may need to be retained while an event or dispute is ongoing, while temporary Content Studio verification tokens are not stored after the current verification flow.
We use access controls and security measures appropriate to the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Contact THG to ask about account information, correction or deletion.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the law and context, you may be entitled to access, correct, erase or restrict information about you, object to processing, request portability, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. You can contact THG using the details below to exercise rights or raise a question.
When we receive a rights request we may need to verify that you are authorised to make it. We will explain if a legal exception prevents us from fulfilling part of a request.
Updates to this notice
We may update this notice when THG services, data practices or applicable requirements change. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date and, where appropriate, an additional notice.
